"I've hunted deer most of my life, and in some of the better areas on the upper midwest. I was very impressed with the quantity and size of the deer I saw on hunts with Mike Pavlick."

"There's no better place in Illinois for large-racked deer than in the 'GOLDEN TRIANGLE.' Conditions in that area create monsters!"

Golden Triangle now owns over 3,000 acres and has the exclusive hunting rights on another 9,000 acres. It is very important to have all the hunting rights, both bow and gun. This allows only our hunters to hunt on the property, not even the landowners are allowed at any time. We strictly manage each farm for trophy whitetail. We do this in several ways. First, we only buy or lease farms that hold a lot of deer, and have the habitat to produce quality bucks year after year. Second, we don’t start hunting until the third week of October, or the pre-rut phase. No one sets foot on these farms before hand to ensure minimal pressure. Third, we limit the amount of hunters we take on each property, not the amount of bucks we harvest. We do expect our hunters to only harvest a mature 140 + buck. However, we also tell them if it’s the biggest buck you have ever seen, shoot it. Remember, this is not supposed to be only a hunt, but an enjoyable experience. We treat it as both.
You will be hunting with professional guides who know bow hunting and their farms well. If you come out to hunt Illinois and it is November 6th, 30 degrees, and a 10 mph west wind, you have a good chance anywhere. However, if you come out and it is 60 degrees with a south blowing wind, you better hope your guide knows his stuff, and knows what the deer do on his property for any situation.

Head Guide Kyle Pavlick w/ another happy hunter
|
Our guides are not allowed to hunt on any of our property. We are probably the only outfitter in this area who maintains this strict rule. Their job is to get you a deer, not have you “scout” for theirs. Each guide will typically take 2-3 hunters on the same 600-800 acre tract of ground that he has guided on for years. Every farm is re-set in the late winter and early spring by both himself and our head guide Kyle Pavlick, who is one of the most accomplished guides in North America for big bucks.
More than 60% of our bow hunters consistently shoot at P&Y Bucks each year since we have been open.
We have over 500 time tested tree stands set for every phase of the rut and wind condition. Some are set up on the 1-5 acre plots of beans, corn, and clover we grow and maintain just for our deer herd. These plots are spread out in 100 different locations throughout our farms. Because we feed them, the come, eat and stay on our large tracts of property. Six of our tracts are between 600 and 800 acres. These food plots have become favorite feeding grounds for big buck both before and after the rut. It also concentrates the does, which makes it easier for bucks to find during the rut, and for our hunters to harvest. This is a very costly and labor intensive venture, but one that pays big dividends to our hunters, which is what it’s all about you, our hunters.
Add the lowest hunting pressure on quality-managed ground, in an area known for the highest concentration of BIG BUCKS in North America, with knowledgeable, seasoned, and experienced guides working only for you, and you can see why 60% + of our bow hunters consistently shoot at P&Y bucks each year since we have been open and 70% of them come back year after year to enjoy another great hunt!
